Calgary – Backstreet’s back and they’re bringing the New Kids with them. The two biggest boy bands of the ‘90s, the Backstreet Boys and New Kids On The Block, are joining forces to perform during the Calgary Stampede at the Scotiabank Saddledome on Wednesday, July 13, 2011.
“This concert is going to be an event to remember,” says Paul Rosenberg, vice-president of Stampede Programming. “The NKOTBSB (New Kids On The Block/Backstreet Boys) tour is one of the most anticipated music events of the year, and we are thrilled to have them as part of one of Canada’s largest music festivals.”
With over 200 million albums sold between them, NKOTB and BSB shaped the face of modern pop with their five-member harmonies and synchronized dance moves. Rumours of a joint tour started last year after Nick, Brian, AJ and Howie (of the BSB) surprised screaming fans with a performance at a NKOTB concert at Radio City Music Hall in New York. When the two groups officially announced you’d be able to hear “Everybody” and “Step by Step” at the same concert, fan frenzy overloaded the bands’ websites; some of the first shows in the tour sold out in minutes.
Stay tuned for more ticket information by following the Stampede on Twitter or Facebook. Tickets include admission to The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth on the day of the concert.
