Calgary – Filipe Masetti Leite is just one day away from achieving a dream that has driven him for the past eight years. In 2012, he rode away from the Calgary Stampede on a quest to become the third person in history to cross the Americas on horseback. With more than 25,000 km traveled, he is finally making his remarkable return to Calgary. Even without the parade, his incredible accomplishments will continue to be celebrated as he rides into Calgary on the morning of July 3.
Media is invited to join in a private celebration of the 2020 Parade Marshal’s arrival at Stampede Park Friday, July 3, from 12 - 1 p.m. Unfortunately, due to the restrictions on mass gatherings, this event is closed to the general public.

About the Calgary Stampede
The Calgary Stampede celebrates the people, the animals, the land, the traditions and the values that make up the unique spirit of the west. The Calgary Stampede contributes to the quality of life in Calgary and southern Alberta through our world-renowned Stampede, year-round facilities, western events and several youth and agriculture programs. Exemplifying the theme We’re Greatest Together, we are a volunteer-supported, not-for-profit community organization that preserves and celebrates our western heritage, cultures and community spirit. All revenue is reinvested into Calgary Stampede programs and facilities.
