Calgary – From magic shows and dancers to bands and cheerleading, Canadian talent that hit the stage in preliminary competition of the Stampede Talent Search was outstanding. Senior contestants and showcased junior performers entertained a full theatre of 500 audience members each of the past five nights in the Boyce Theatre.
Out of a field of 67 contestants, the top 24 performers, as scored by a panel of professional judges, will move on to the next round of the competition.
“The caliber of talent from across Canada in this year’s competition was outstanding,” said Andrew Bunka, Chair, Stampede Talent Search committee. “The preliminary competition has shown us a group of passionate and dedicated young performers.”

These performers were selected by earning the top marks from our panel of preliminary competition judges:
Beni Johnson – musician, producer
Jake Matthews – Country Music artist, musician, songwriter
Brandon wood – singer, dancer, actor
A new panel of judges, which includes Tanya Chumak (dance), Lauren Ireland (vocals) and Pat McGannon (musician/producer), will bring fresh eyes to score these performers in the next round of the competition,
These 25 young performers, ages 13 to 21, will now take the experience they’ve gained, as well as insight from preliminary judge’s comments and aim for their personal best during the semi-final competition on Thursday, July 14 and Friday, July 15. There is no show Wednesday, July 13.
The top 12 will compete for the title of Stampede Talent Search Champion and the $10,000 cash Grand Prize to be awarded during the finals on Saturday, July 16.
All shows are at 6:30pm in the Boyce Theatre on Stampede Park and free with park admission.
