Calgary Stampede brings home two Canadian Country Music Awards

Calgary – Over the weekend the Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) Industry Awards presented the Calgary Stampede with the Country Festival, Fair or Exhibition of the Year award. The award was one of two presented to the Stampede in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan on September 7.

“The Calgary Stampede is thrilled to receive this award that recognizes the Stampede’s inclusion of Canadian country music and artists as a key feature of our world-renowned 10-day event,” says Rod Tate, Programming manager, Calgary Stampede. “Receiving this award in our Centennial year is truly amazing.  We are so happy to showcase great Canadian Country music talent every year.”

For the first time in Stampede history, Tate and Calgary Stampede’s Production manager, Lindsay Ell were also presented with the Ron Sakamoto Talent Buyer or Promoter of the Year Award.

“Receiving this award is exciting,” says Ell.  “The programming team at the Calgary Stampede works hard all year to secure great Canadian County talent. It is truly a team win.”

The CCMA Industry Awards are presented to individuals and organizations that have made a significant contribution to Canadian country music during the eligibility period. The winners of these awards are chosen by the combined votes of all eligible members of the Canadian Country Music Association (CCMA).
