Calgary – On Friday, July 4, the Calgary Stampede Parade will once again showcase our western heritage by engaging the public through social media and showcasing our community commitment – all while celebrating the Calgary Stampede’s history.
“The Calgary Stampede Parade committee is excited to kick off the 2014 edition of the Parade,” says Mayne Root, chair, Parade committee. “Our group of volunteers have put in countless hours over the past year to present another memorable show,” he adds.
Vote for your favourite Parade entry! If you like an entry, text the entry number to “12312”. The winning voter will receive: two concert tickets to Shania Twain, two concert tickets to Jann Arden, four entry passes to Nashville North and two Wrangler shirts. Last year’s winner was the Town of Vulcan’s entry.
A few additional highlights for this year’s Parade, include: the presence of the Southern Alberta Pioneers and Their Descendants, with roots dating back as early as 1882; and alocal member of the War Amps Child Amputee Program will be commemorated by getting a chance to ride on the War Amps Playsafe/Drivesafe float. Last fall, this youngster was highlighted in a recent public service announcement featuring members of the Calgary Stampeders football club.
