Calgary Stampede’s Best New Food 2012 revealed

Calgary, AB – Tonight, members of the media tasted some of the new food offerings at the Calgary Stampede.  After sampling 11 tasty treats, the palates of the press voted Naaco Bites from the Naaco Truck as Best New Food 2012.

Naaco Bites are delicious chicken sausages battered in corn and chickpea flour and then deep-fried to a golden crisp, served with a carrot and red cabbage salad, dressed with lime cilantro dressing. Other items at the truck include Centurion and Bolly Chips.  The Centurion, named after our Centennial is bison baked beans served with a corn and red cabbage salad, chocolate chutney and popcorn.  Bolly Chips are fried mogo, carrot and red cabbage salad with chicken chorizo and smoked cheddar cheese.

“We didn’t sacrifice Naaco’s philosophy of local and organic food while creating a dish specific for the Calgary Stampede,” says Aman Adatia, owner of Naaco Truck.

“We’ve been given such a great opportunity in the city especially having only been open three weeks,” adds Stephanie Shields, owner of Naaco Truck.  “We are so glad we get to share our food with so many people!”

Second place was Island Noodles from the salt Spring Island Noodle Bar and in third, Deep Fried Wagon Wheels from Suzanne Poudrier.
