Calgary – Prime Time performances are back and better than ever in the Nutrien Western Event Centre this July! Experience all of your favourite agriculture and western events with even more energy and excitement as the sun goes down. From 6:30– 8 p.m., with the pre-show starting at 6:00 p.m. each night, agriculture enthusiasts will be able to watch the most highly anticipated events with the added energy of live music throughout Stampede, July 5 –14.

“We’ve amped up the fun on the Prime Time performances for 2019” says Melissa McKay, Calgary Stampede Competitions Manager. “Between the incredible competition and great local music, you’re going to want to plan more than one visit to the agriculture area and Nutrien Western Event Centre at Stampede Park.”

Celebrating 20 years of partnership, members of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra will team up with the majestic heavy horses in the Heavy Horse Show, with the fan-favourite World Six Heavy Horse Hitch competition on Tuesday, July 9.

Feel the rumble of the Vintage Tractor Pull as the beautifully restored tractors bring history back to life and show off a different kind of horse power. Not only an exhilarating event to watch, the Vintage Tractor Pull will be pairing the roaring of the tractors with the musical addition of the Dueling Piano Kings!

If high energy is your style, you won't want to miss the Cowboy Up Challenge, celebrating 10 years of fast-paced action. A test of horsemanship and athletic ability, horse and rider teams will maneuver through challenging obstacles in a race against the clock to the tune of a feature DJ, with the Calgary Stampede Showband kicking off the action in the pre-show for two nights.

Don’t forget the muscle at the Heavy Horse Pull! The beautiful and powerful draft horse athletes will showcase the strength that helped build Western Canada, as they work as a team to pull a weighted sled. Amping up the excitement, The Prairie States will be adding a little old school soul with modern country vibes to the action as the official pre-show entertainment.

Pairing incredible musical guests with the most popular agriculture events, the Nutrien Western Event Centre is the place to be for 10 days of authentic western experiences that will keep you coming back for more throughout the week!
