Calgary – Introducing an exciting outdoor space for Calgary youth to take centre stage! The Calgary Stampede Foundation is excited to announce the official opening of the BMO Amphitheatre – the newest addition to Stampede’s vibrant and growing Youth Campus.
“The BMO Amphitheatre is an inspiring space for young artists to rehearse and perform in our city,” says Bob Thompson, Chair of the Calgary Stampede Foundation Board. ”The Calgary Stampede Foundation’s goal is to create these spaces and provide opportunities for our community’s youth to thrive,” adds Thompson.
The new stage and 800-person seating area was built for Calgary and offers community groups and arts organizations an outdoor performance and rehearsal venue, as well as an excellent outdoor concert and festival space. The Amphitheatre will also be used by students of Stampede Foundation’s performing arts programs, The Calgary Stampede Showband, The Young Canadians School of Performing Arts and Youth Campus partners like the Calgary Arts Academy, Calgary Fiddlers and Jazz YYC.
“The BMO Amphitheatre would not be possible without the generous support of BMO Bank of Montreal. The Calgary Stampede and Stampede Foundation are grateful to BMO for their commitment to the Calgary community for the past 200 years and for being an integral partner of the Stampede for more than a century,” says David Sibbald, President & Chairman of the Board of the Calgary Stampede.
“BMO is proud to contribute to such a unique cultural space that will spotlight our community’s young talent,” said Susan Brown, Senior Vice President, Alberta & NWT Division, BMO Bank of Montreal. “We’re excited for local and international visitors to visit Stampede Park and the BMO Youth Campus Amphitheatre and experience the stories that our youth will be helping to tell in Alberta,” adds Brown.
The opening of the BMO Amphitheatre marks another important milestone for the Calgary Stampede and Calgary Stampede Foundation as they develop a world-class Youth Campus - an artistic hub that celebrates western heritage, education and the arts. Together, with community partners we are creating a gathering place for future generations.
