The Calgary Stampede's Western Oasis is looking for artists, photographers, entertainers; and new for 2017, artisans - to participate in the 2017 Stampede! The online application process for all artists will open on November 3, 2016. The Western Oasis provides many different opportunities for artists of all styles to showcase and sell their work that celebrates western heritage and values. Applicants are required for the following:
Artist Studios – Connects Artists and their work directly to the public.
The Art Auction – A premiere event for artists and patrons. A live, fast-paced auction of fine quality art.
The Art Gallery – Features work by new and emerging artists.
The Photo Gallery & Competition – Photographers show and compete in five different categories.
The Window on the West Stage – Is open too local and area entertainers for music, singing, and other small performances.
**NEW** The Maker Market – A new upscale and accessible marketplace showcasing the talents of our local and area craftsmen, and artisans.
The Western Oasis, located in the BMO Centre during all ten days of the Stampede; has over 40,000 visitors annually.
More than 200 enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers work year-round to keep this special part of the Stampede fresh, and enticing. We celebrate our western heritage and values in all art styles, from jewelry making and contemporary formats, to acrylics, oils, photographs, and sculptures. Applicants go through a rigorous entry process, and all final pieces are juried into the show. This means that we bring only the best work to our audiences.
