Stampede bucking stock for the win!

The Calgary Stampede bucking stock was in it to win it again this year at the 2012 Canadian Finals Rodeo (CFR) held in Edmonton on November 7 – 11.

“As the final event of the Canadian Professional Rodeo Association season, we look forward to stock competing at the CFR,” says Keith Marrington, Calgary Stampede Rodeo and Chuckwagon director. “This year 15 Bareback horses, 15 Saddle bronc horses and seven bulls were selected to go to CFR and they certainly didn’t disappoint.”

There were 59 rides on Calgary Stampede stock with 18 buck-offs and 25 money making rides, earning the cowboys just over $150,000 in the six performances.

Calgary Stampede stock won five go-round buckles by virtue of taking their riders to the winning score of the performance:

L-124 Loganberry – Dustin Flundra (Saddle bronc)
P-65 Princess Warrior – JR Vezain (Bareback)
S-65 Shadow Warrior – JR Vezain (Bareback)
L-36 Licorice Baby - Clayton Bunney (Bareback)
M-64 Mata Fact - Dusty Hausauer (1/2 tie) (Saddle bronc)

Two of the Stampede’s four-legged bucking athletes were also recognized as the top performers in their class.

S-83 Special Delivery won the title of Canadian and Alberta Champion Bareback horse, while S-91 Shoshone Mountain brought home the title of Canadian Finals Rodeo Champion Saddle Bronc Horse.
