Stampede launches Animal Q and A website to field questions
Calgary, AB – New this year, the Calgary Stampede is fielding animal questions and curiosities on a new question and answer interactive website.
Animal Q and A is a new web-based forum to provide straight-up answers to questions people may have on Stampede events and programs that involve animals. Animals are at the heart of the Calgary Stampede, and have been for its entire 101-year history. Stampede events and programs involve horses, cattle, bulls and other livestock, showcasing how society interacts with animals. A lot has changed in 101 years, both from a livestock handling point of view and the public’s connection with livestock animals.
The Calgary Stampede is where urban meets rural. It’s only natural that people who aren’t familiar with western traditions and events would be curious about the animals and events at the Stampede.
“Around the world, people are generally becoming more and more distant from agriculture and large animals,” explains Paul Rosenberg, Stampede vice-president of programming. “What we are trying to do is create a forum where people can submit their animal-related questions and ask whatever they want about animals that participate, compete and exhibit at the Stampede.”
“We will answer those questions and provide information relating to any aspect of animals participation at Stampede.. On one hand, it’s about providing information, and on the other, it really is about dispelling misinformation. We are looking at it from two points of view,” adds Rosenberg.
The Calgary Stampede is proud of its animal care choices, policies, safeguards and actions. The Stampede values animals and believes that by ensuring their welfare, health and safety, the organization helps animals live a life worth living. The Calgary Stampede looks forward to answering public questions and satisfying people’s curiosity about its animal-related programs.
