Taking our western hospitality on the road
Calgary – For the second year in a row, the Calgary Stampede is teaming up with Travel Alberta to showcase summer activities in Alberta. On Saturday, March 9 the Stampede will be part A Festival of Alberta’s Top Summer Experiences at Nokia Plaza in front of Staples Center where the Calgary Flames will later take on the L.A. Kings.
“California has always been a target market for the Calgary Stampede,” says Deanne Carson, vice-president, Marketing and External Relations, Calgary Stampede. “Partnering with Travel Alberta really shows our visitors the vast array of things to do in Alberta – everything from our Calgary Stampede to world class golf.”
The event is open to the public all afternoon and will include special Stampede favorites such as line dancing, country music by Canadian Finalist Jason Greeley, a mechanical bull, Calgary Stampede Royalty and of course, Harry the Horse.
Other Alberta highlights will include a golf simulator, dinosaur dig, rock climbing wall, fishing lessons and plenty of street performers and festival entertainment.
The western hospitality will continue in the Staples Center when the Flames play the Kings. Check out the game on CBC Hockey Night in Canada beginning at 8 p.m. MST and see the Calgary Stampede and Travel Alberta white hat an entire section.
The Calgary Stampede runs July 5-14, 2013. For more information, visit calgarystampede.com.
