The Calgary Stampede hits the road

Calgary – To celebrate its Centennial, the Calgary Stampede is taking its famous western hospitality beyond the Calgary city limits. The Calgary Stampede “White Hat Round Up” is an exciting Centennial initiative where the Stampede takes its festivities and hospitality to other celebrations in four Alberta communities.

“The Calgary Stampede is the essence of western hospitality,” says Mike Casey, president and chairman of the board, Calgary Stampede. “Taking a taste of the Stampede to our rural partners was something we really wanted to do. When we
approached the organizing committees of these community events, we were delighted, that they invited us to join their
festivities.”

Funded in part by the Government of Alberta, “White Hat Round Up” will deliver the spirit of Stampede festival programs to several communities across the province, to ‘Round Up’ Alberta’s pride in the values of the white cowboy hat and provide an opportunity for more Albertans to participate in celebration of the Stampede Centennial. The Round Up is an opportunity for the Calgary Stampede to support and give back to the rural communities who have for so many years contributed to the success and history of the Calgary Stampede. Seventy per cent of the overall attendance at the Calgary Stampede is from Calgary and “rubber tire traffic” – visitors who drive to Calgary from surrounding rural communities.
