Calgary – Get up close and hold your breath as you look to the skies and watch the infamous Nik Wallenda brave the high wire and sway poles daily at this year’s Calgary Stampede.
“The Calgary Stampede is very excited to welcome Nik Wallenda to the thrill zone, bringing his family legacy of the Great Wallendas to Stampede Park and the amazement they have inspired for more than one hundred years,” says Kyle Corner, Manager, Entertainment Programming at the Calgary Stampede. “Guests will get the chance to watch Nik Wallenda in his element throughout the 10 days of Stampede, getting up close and personal to something truly gravity defying!”
Wallenda is the seventh generation of the Great Wallendas; a family whose legacy for heart stopping and awe-inspiring acts precedes it. Best known for his broadcasted tightrope walks across the Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls and his recently announced 396-metre walk across New York City’s Times Square, guests can expect to have their heart racing and breath held while watching Wallenda doing what only he can do, here at the Calgary Stampede.
“What’s more exciting than a daring heart pounding high wire walk? Doing it all at the Calgary Stampede,” says Nik Wallenda. “I have heard the stories and legends of this 100 plus year old annual event, but now I finally get to perform and entertain at this iconic event - It has always been on my bucket list. I can’t wait to perform our brand new thrill show.”
Wallenda will be joined by his wife, Erendira Wallenda, performing daily during Stampede. Their performance will include two special feature stunts: walking the sway poles 60 ft. in the air and a tightrope motorcycle stunt between the Thrill Zone and the roof of the Stampede Corral. These incredible performances can be seen from multiple areas of the Thrill Zone twice daily.
The excitement doesn’t stop there as guests can expect a must-see spectacular one-day performance by Wallenda during the 10-days of Stampede; stay tuned for more details about this exciting event!
Performances by the Wallenda’s are free with Stampede admission. For more information on the Wallenda’s and their scheduled performances, visit here.
