Calgary – Introducing the newest entertainment destination to eat, drink, dance, and play during the 2018 Calgary Stampede—the Big Four Roadhouse!
“The Big Four Roadhouse has been reimagined as the social hotspot on Stampede Park,” says Kyle Corner, Manager Entertainment, Programming at the Calgary Stampede. “It’s a place to kickback, enjoy delicious food, grab a cold drink, listen to great musical acts and play life-sized games.”
Eat – Within the Big Four Roadhouse, is the Big Four Cookhouse, presented by Food Network Canada, which will showcase the best of Alberta, featuring menu items made from locally sourced ingredients. Food Network Canada’s Top Chef Canada: All-Stars champion and Calgary’s chef/owner of Cluck ‘N’ Cleaver, Nicole Gomes, has added her personal touch to the menu and will make meet and greet appearances throughout the Stampede. From signature barbecue sandwiches to family-style share platters, make sure to stop by the Big Four Cookhouse and get your gourmet barbecue on.
Drink – The Big Four Roadhouse will have the largest selection of local, domestic and international craft beer on Stampede Park! For 2018, 32 Alberta small brewers will be featured at The Big Four Roadhouse. Sixteen brewers will be featured from July 5 to 10, and July 11 to 15 will feature 16 different local brewers. As a continued key partner, Labatt will also feature craft beer including Mill Street Saddle Up Session Ale, a specialty beer brewed a few blocks away at Mill Street Brew Pub, exclusively for The Big Four Roadhouse. Sit back, relax with a cold brew and enjoy the laid-back atmosphere and entertainment that the space has to offer.
Play –There’s no better way to reconnect with your friends than with some friendly competition and life-sized games! The Big Four Roadhouse will feature Plexiglas curling (in honour of the Big Four’s history as Canada’s largest indoor curling rink), 8-bit arcade games and life-sized Jenga, Connect 4, Checkers, Chess and Crokinole.
Dance – Bringing live classic rock, blues and funk to Stampede Park, prepare to get down in the evenings to a number of groovy headliners on the Big Four Roadhouse stage, including jazz-funk fusion band, Mocking Shadows; Rolling Stones cover band, Dead Flowers; iconic Canadian rock band and JUNO Award winning group, Blue Rodeo (ticketed event); rock and power-pop band, Sloan; alternative rock artists and former Barenaked Ladies member, Steven Page; new wave trio Platinum Blonde; post-punk icons, 54-40; indie soul band, The Boom Booms; open participation singing and comedy group Choir!
