Government of Canada recognizes the Calgary Stampede as an event of national historic significance.
The Calgary Stampede was recognized as an event of national historic significance.Established in 1919 and supported by Parks Canada, the Historic Sites and Monuments Board of Canada advises the Minister of the Environment regarding the national historic significance of places, persons and events that have marked Canada's history.
TIAC’s Event of the Year Award
The Calgary Stampede received the Event of the Year Award at the annual Canadian Tourism Awards, presented by the Travel Industry Association of Canada (TIAC). The awards recognize success, leadership and innovation in Canada’s tourism industry and reward people, places, organizations and events that have gone above and beyond to offer travelers superior tourism experiences in Canada.
Canada’s Passion Capitalists
The Calgary Stampede was recognized as one of Canada’s “Passion Capitalists.” Canada’s Passion Capitalists is a national awards program recognizing those organizations that have the energy, intensity, and sustainability needed to generate superior results.
Canada Post issues stamps to honour of the Calgary Stampede Centennial
Canada Post marked the Calgary Stampede Centennial by issuing two commemorative stamps. The two stamps feature a Rodeo horse and a silver-and-gold anniversary belt buckle.
Animal Care Award
The Calgary Stampede received the 2012 AFAC Award of Distinction, hosted by Alberta Farm Animal Care (AFAC). The Award of Distinction for Innovation honours those who have developed a new process, product or source of knowledge that has made a significant impact on improving the welfare of livestock care and the industry.
Consumer Choice Award
The Calgary Stampede received the 2012 Consumer Choice Award for Best Convention/Reception Hall. Voted by consumers, this award recognizes business excellence. Winners of the Consumer Choice Award are selected based on delivery of optimal value for services and goods, as well as a rewarding consumer experience.
Canadian Country Music Awards
The Canadian Country Music Awards (CCMA) Industry Awards presented the Calgary Stampede with the Country Festival, Fair or Exhibition of the Year award, and Programming manager, Rod Tate and Production manager, Lindsay Ell were presented with the Ron Sakamoto Talent Buyer or Promoter of the Year Award.
Calgary Stampede Showband Wins WASMB
The Calgary Stampede Showband won first place at the World Association of Marching Show Bands (WAMSB) World Championship. WAMSB is considered to be the largest and most well respected competition of its type in the world.
International Association for Fairs and Expositions (IAFE)
The Calgary Stampede was recognized at the International Association for Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) Convention. The pasture to plate display — The Cattle Trail — received the agriculture programming award for Special or Specific Agricultural Educational Event, Exhibit, or Program for the Fair-going Public category and also earned the Best of Division honours.
Marketing Excellence Alto Award for the We’re Greatest Together campaign
The Calgary Stampede was awarded with a Marketing Excellence Alto Award for the We’re Greatest Together campaign at the 12th Annual Alto Awards. The awards recognize creative marketing campaigns that encourage travel to, and within, Alberta. Emphasis is on original and effective campaigns that push the boundaries of common marketing practices and result in greater than expected return on investment.
Stampede bucking stock for the win!
Two of the Stampede’s four-legged bucking athletes were also recognized as the top performers in their class at the 2012 Canadian Finals Rodeo. S-83 Special Delivery won the title of Canadian and Alberta Champion Bareback horse, while S-91 Shoshone Mountain brought home the title of Canadian Finals Rodeo Champion Saddle Bronc Horse.
2012 Brass Ring Award for Marketing Excellence
The Calgary Stampede received a Brass Ring Award at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions (IAAPA) for Marketing Excellence – Television Commercial. The awards recognize creativity and excellence in marketing and honour the best in the attractions industry.
