Free Arabian Horse Showcase at Stampede Park this week

Calgary – Looking for something free and exciting for the family this week and weekend? The Arabian Horse Association’s Region 17 Championships which is a competition for Arabian horses, showcasing their beauty, agility and heritage, kicks off today at the Agrium Western Event Centre. This event showcases horses in a very different way than Calgarians are accustomed to seeing at the Stampede.

Known as the all-around athletes of the horse world, this elegant and magnificent breed of Arabians are shown in a range of pleasure riding classes, such as side-saddle, English hunter-jumper and dressage, as well as costume classes where audiences will see the horses and their riders in native Arabian costumes.

Everyone is welcome and admission to the event is free* for the general public. It’s something that the whole family can enjoy and an opportunity to learn more about the oldest known breed of riding horse.
