Calgary – In less than fifty days the streets of Calgary will be lined with people ready to watch the first ever Stampede Parade presented by Suncor. The Parade starts at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 7 and marks the official start of Stampede 2023!

“We are thrilled to have Suncor’s partnership with the Calgary Stampede, supporting an event that brings our community together,” says Theresa Howland, Vice-President of Sponsorship, Marketing and Employee Services at the Calgary Stampede. “It's not just a parade marching down a street; it is a long-standing kick off to our annual celebration representing Calgary’s diverse cultural traditions. We are proud to have Suncor become part of this incredible community event.”

Suncor has been a key partner of the Calgary Stampede for more than 15 years, supporting programming that helps ensure everyone can experience the fun and excitement of The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

This year, Parade goers can take advantage of Stampede Parade to Park presented by Suncor by going straight from the Parade to the Park to receive free admission from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Friday, July 7.

“The Stampede Parade is a celebration of Calgary’s vibrant culture and community, where people from diverse backgrounds come together as one,” says Arlene Strom, Suncor’s Chief Sustainability Officer. “We’re excited to be part of opening this year’s festivities and welcoming visitors from all over the world to one of our city’s special traditions.”

Each year thousands of people take in this iconic part of Calgary’s cultural identity. Since 1912 the Parade has served as the official start of The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, entertaining audiences with a showcase of colourful floats, majestic horses and high-energy marching bands.

The Parade is Calgary’s largest annual single-day event and is approximately 5 kilometres in length. The 2023 edition will feature more than 105 entries comprised of over 400, four-legged and close to 5,000 two-legged participants.
