Calgary, AB (July 8, 2026) From embracing an entrepreneurial spirit to representing Canada on the international stage, Malti Litchfield and Ryder Mo may be just nine years old, but they're already making a name for themselves. This summer, they'll add another title to their growing resumes as the BMO Jr. Reporters at the 2026 Calgary Stampede.
Selected through the annual BMO Jr. Reporter contest, Malti and Ryder will step behind the microphone on BMO Kids' Day, Wednesday July 8, interviewing guests, uncovering stories and sharing their experiences live from The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.
Malti is a budding entrepreneur with a big imagination and even bigger ideas. When she's not running lemonade stands and selling Pokémon cards, she's dreaming up future business ventures, including creating her very own magazine. A lover of arts and crafts, swimming, soccer and funny jokes, Malti is excited to bring her creativity, energy and endless questions to her reporting assignments.
Ryder is an accomplished young athlete who has proudly represented Canada at international Wushu competitions in Hong Kong, earning multiple gold and silver medals along with awards for sportsmanship and athletic achievement. When he's not training for his next competition, Ryder enjoys playing piano, solving Rubik's Cubes, collecting Pokémon cards and cheering on his favourite hockey teams. He's looking forward to exploring Stampede Park and capturing all the excitement as a BMO Jr. Reporter.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Malti and Ryder as the 2026 BMO Jr. Reporters and can’t wait to see the Calgary Stampede through their eyes,” said Leah Marrington, Regional Vice President, Prairies and Central Region, BMO. “BMO Jr. Reporters is a special way to celebrate young storytellers, build confidence and help kids connect with their community while experiencing the excitement of BMO Kids’ Day and The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.”
As part of their prize, Malti and Ryder will each receive a $2,500 Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP) from BMO, $1,500 towards school supplies for their school, a Western outfit from Lammle's, Stampede admission for four, Evening Show tickets, ride passes and food vouchers.
The BMO Jr. Reporters program is one of the many ways the Stampede and BMO invest in youth in our community. By providing hands-on storytelling opportunities, the program helps young people build confidence, strengthen communication skills and experience the Stampede in a unique and memorable way.
Malti and Ryder will be on the lookout for fun stories and memorable Stampede moments to share with viewers during BMO Kids' Day, where guests can enjoy a complimentary pancake breakfast, family-friendly entertainment, free admission before 11 a.m. and free admission all day for children under 12.
You can follow along as they report live from Stampede Park!
