CALGARY (June 18, 2026) — The The world's best rodeo athletes are heading to Calgary for 10 days of elite competition, as the 2026 Calgary Stampede Rodeo returns to GMC Stadium from July 3 to 12.

Competing for more than $2.1 million in prize money, 210 athletes from Canada, the United States, Mexico and Australia will battle for a Calgary Stampede championship. The roster includes defending champions, world title holders, emerging talent and local contenders, creating one of the strongest fields in rodeo.

“This year’s lineup brings together proven champions, rising stars and athletes with powerful stories of grit, family legacy and incredible comebacks,” said Kristina Barnes, Director of Agriculture & Western Events at the Calgary Stampede. “From lightning-fast rides to edge-of-your-seat competition, every afternoon at GMC Stadium will showcase the strength, precision and determination that make the Calgary Stampede Rodeo unforgettable. The energy at Stampede Park will be incredible.”

In bareback riding, it’s a clash of champions and contenders. Reigning Stampede champion Cooper Cooke of Victor, Idaho returns to defend his title after a breakout win in 2025, while former Calgary champions R.C. Landingham (2024) and Tanner Aus (2019) bring proven big-stage experience back to GMC Stadium. Canada’s hopes include Orin Larsen of Inglis, Man., and Kody Lamb of Sherwood Park, Alta., in a roster built for explosive rides.

Bull riding brings one of rodeo's biggest names back to Calgary. Stetson Wright of Milford, Utah, a 10-time PRCA world champion, will compete in both bull riding and saddle bronc riding, putting him in the spotlight across two of rodeo's toughest events. The bull riding field also includes 2021 Stampede champion Jordan Hansen of Amisk, Alta., and rising Canadian contender Grady Young of Leader, Sask., giving fans a chance to see established champions and emerging talent go head-to-head.

In ladies barrel racing, all eyes will be on Anita Ellis. The Blackfoot, Idaho, cowgirl returns to Calgary as the reigning Stampede champion after a serious accident in November 2025, setting the stage for one of the sport's most anticipated comeback stories. She'll face no shortage of competition, including former Calgary champions Hailey Kinsel (2018), Lisa Lockhart (2019), Kassie Mowry (2022) and Brittany Pozzi Tonozzi (2023), while Alberta's Taylor Manning, Jennifer Neudorf, Blake Molle and Jayden Wilson will have the hometown crowd behind them.

Ladies breakaway roping returns after a history-making Stampede debut in 2025, when Shelby Boisjoli-Meged of Langdon, Alta., became the event’s first Stampede champion. Boisjoli-Meged returns to GMC Stadium after giving birth to her son in May, setting up a title defence with added meaning. She will meet a fast, technical group including Hali Williams, Bradi Good, Taylor Munsell and Beau Peterson, with several Alberta ropers ready for their shot at Showdown Sunday.

Saddle bronc riding brings a stacked roster, led by 2025 Stampede champion Zeke Thurston of Big Valley, Alta. Thurston, a four-time world champion and four-time Calgary champion, returns to face one of the sport’s most talked-about family lineups: Rusty, Ryder, Statler and Stetson Wright. Alberta brothers Dawson and Logan Hay also return to Calgary, adding more local firepower to an event where every ride has championship potential.

Steer wrestling will feature speed, strength and a strong Alberta storyline. Scott Guenthner of Provost, Alta., returns as the reigning Stampede champion after earning his second Calgary title in 2025. He will face past Stampede winners Ty Erickson (2024), Will Lummus (2022), Kyle Irwin (2019) and Tyler Waguespack (2017), along with a Canadian group that includes Harley Cole of Okotoks, Alta., Clay Guthrie of Ponoka, Alta., and Ryan Shuckburgh of Innisfail, Alta.

Tie-down roping brings another defending champion back to Stampede Park. Shad Mayfield, one of the fastest and most decorated ropers in the sport and the returning 2025 Calgary title holder, returns to competition following hip surgery this spring. Former Stampede champions Haven Meged (2024) and Beau Cooper (2023) add more championship pressure, while Alberta’s Logan Bird and Kyle Lucas bring Canadian depth to an event where tenths of a second will decide who moves on.

Every ride, run and rope will count as the world’s top rodeo athletes chase a Calgary Stampede championship in front of thousands of fans at GMC Stadium. Stampede Rodeo performances begin daily at 1:30 p.m., and tickets include admission to Stampede Park. For the best seats and full schedule, visit calgarystampede.com/tickets.

Fans across Canada can watch the action live on Sportsnet and Sportsnet+, while viewers in the United States can tune in on The Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+. Daily results will be posted at calgarystampede.com/results/rodeo/2026.
