CALGARY, AB (June 17, 2026) — Alberta’s food story takes centre stage at the 2026 Calgary Stampede with Taste of Stampede presented by Safeway, a free, family-friendly experience in the BMO Centre that connects guests to the province’s vibrant agri-food industry through food, education and entertainment.
Featuring live cooking demonstrations, culinary competitions, community cook-offs and interactive experiences, Taste of Stampede brings together some of Alberta’s most celebrated chefs alongside emerging culinary talent. Guests can explore local ingredients, discover new culinary trends and experience the connections between Alberta agriculture, food production and the meals enjoyed every day.
“Food is a huge part of the Stampede experience, and Taste of Stampede creates a direct connection between Alberta agriculture, the chefs who transform those ingredients and the guests enjoying them,” says Neil Christoper, Manager Entertainment & Festival Experience at the Calgary Stampede. “Whether you're watching a culinary competition, learning from a chef demonstration or simply trying something new, it's an opportunity to better understand the food story behind every bite.”
Two ticketed events will add even more flavour to Taste of Stampede.
Tuesday, July 7 - celebrated Canadian pastry chef Anna Olson hosts an intimate pastries-and-champagne experience featuring a curated selection of sweet treats and insights into her world of baking and entertaining.
Thursday, July 9 – Calgary Stampede mixologist Thom Hill presents an evening of iconic Midway flavours reimagined through elevated cocktail and food pairings.
Tickets for both experiences are available now.
The next generation of culinary talent will also take the stage at Taste of Stampede. The winning team from the inaugural Youth Agri-food Culinary Challenge, hosted in partnership with the SAIT School of Hospitality and Tourism, will showcase its award-winning culinary skills, creativity and passion for local food on July 8 during BMO Kids’ Day.
“The Calgary Stampede gives us a unique opportunity to showcase the incredible ingredients grown and raised right here in Alberta,” says Michael Sabourin, Executive Chef, Calgary Stampede. “Working closely with local producers allows us to create memorable food experiences that celebrate our province while reflecting the creativity and diversity of our culinary team.”
