From the moment doors to Stampede Cellar Uncorked opened on Saturday, April 11, the room buzzed with connection, culinary creativity and pride. Now in its third year, Uncorked 2026 brought food and beverage lovers together with local chefs and wine agents in a shared celebration of Calgary’s culinary scene and Alberta agriculture.
More than 30 top restaurants from Calgary and the surrounding area came together to showcase inventive, bite-sized dishes, each one telling a story of place, passion and collaboration. Paired with many of the winning wines from the 2026 Stampede Cellar Showdown international wine competition, the evening was a true meeting of local talent and global excellence. Guests moved from booth to booth, sipping, tasting, and chatting with the people who make the event so special.
That sense of community carried through the Stampede Cellar Uncorked awards. The Vintage Group of Restaurants was named the 2026 Uncorked Grand Champion and also took home the Grated Coconut Award for the best sweet bite. Tool Shed Beer & BBQ captured the Guy Weadick Showmanship Award for its engaging booth and, for the second year in a row, earned the People’s Choice Award. The Bar Chouette was recognized with the Spirit of the West Innovation Award for bold creativity and fresh ideas. Each win reflected not just culinary skill, but a willingness to engage, entertain and bring people together.
With a record-breaking number of attendees, Uncorked also highlighted the power of volunteerism. The event was organized with the support of the Calgary Stampede Wine & Food Tasting Event Committee, whose passion was evident throughout the night.
"This year's record attendance at Uncorked truly highlights our community's deepening appreciation for wine and local food," said Melissa McKay, Chair of the Food & Wine Tasting Event Committee. "Participants engaged with guests, sharing stories of their businesses, values, and ties to Alberta agriculture. Our outstanding local restaurants, in particular, shone brightly, showcasing their culinary creativity and commitment to local ingredients. From these exceptional restaurants and wine agents to enthusiastic guests and dedicated volunteers, everyone contributed to creating an unforgettable evening that celebrated our community spirit."
