As Stampede 2026 continues, we've served up thousands of pancakes, welcomed hundreds of thousands of guests and created unforgettable memories across Stampede Park. Behind the scenes, our volunteers, employees and partners are working together to reduce waste and support our community.

The Tim Hortons Family Day and BMO Kids' Day pancake breakfasts were organized by the volunteer Stampede Park Breakfast Events Committee, with waste sorting efforts supported by Girl Guides of Canada. Their work helps make these breakfasts as close to zero waste as possible, while refundable beverage containers are recycled to help raise funds for local Girl Guide programs.

Throughout Stampede Park, our Green Teams, in partnership with the Centre for Newcomers and Trellis Society, are helping keep Stampede Park clean while providing meaningful employment opportunities for youth and newcomers to Canada, often as their first job or first Canadian work experience.

In partnership with Coca-Cola, you can get rewarded for recycling your beverage containers and disposing of your waste responsibly. Bring your empty Coca-Cola beverage container to the indoor waste sorting station in The Market at the BMO Centre for a chance to win a limited-edition Calgary Stampede and Coca-Cola denim jacket or drop off your empty containers at the Coca-Cola activation near the SuperWheel to receive a fun temporary tattoo.

After the Stampede fun ends, more than 14 different types of materials are recycled or upcycled across Stampede Park. Bedding waste is repurposed as fertilizer for local farms, while used cooking grease is transformed into biodiesel. Leftover food from the Midway, Stampede kitchens and pancake breakfasts is also donated to local community organizations. Last July alone, more than 54,500 meals were donated to help support food security in Calgary.
