World-class horsemanship, precision and athleticism took centre stage Tuesday evening as the Calgary Stampede's Reining Showcase returned to the Nutrien Western Event Centre for its second year. Competition was held in three classes: the Invitational Open, Canadian Open and Youth Challenge.

Shawn Flarida of Springfield, Ohio and horse White Hot N Electric finished second to earn $9,000, while Jason Vanlandingham of Whitesboro, Texas and horse Sparkin Off Spooks placed third and earned $8,000.

Competitors earned their place through qualifying events at the EquinoX and the Reining Alberta Spring Classic before competing for a $5,000 CAD added purse and a Calgary Stampede Champion buckle.

The Youth Challenge class showcased six of Canada's top young reining competitors, who qualified through the Reining Alberta Spring Classic.
