Calling all artists, musicians, and photographers! Applications for the 2024 Calgary Stampede Art Show are still open, with a wide variety of opportunities to celebrate Alberta’s western heritage, culture, and community spirit.
A must-see part of the Stampede, the Art Show brings nearly 200 artists, musicians, sculptors, photographers, and chefs together for a guest experience that’s always unique.
“Our team has been working extremely hard on this year’s show,” says Michael Wetherup, Chair of the Western Showcase Committee. “They put in countless hours to create an immersive experience showcasing a Stampede of artistic expression that promise to captivate and inspire. It truly is a must see on your visit to the Calgary Stampede.”
Found inside the tranquil Western Oasis at the BMO Centre, the Art Show is an opportunity for artists of all genres and skill levels to share their work, sell pieces, and have conversations with people from across the city and around the world.
Artist Michael Sydoryk has been exhibiting his large scale wildlife paintings at the Calgary Stampede Art Show since 2016 and says it’s the reason he’s been able to pursue an exciting career as a professional artist.
“It is the show I pull the most inspiration from. The sheer amount of people, hundreds of thousands, who come through eager to see the art by the artist, that is most important to me,” says Sydoryk. "This particular show of this caliber, which doesn't really exist outside of this, is embodied and depicted by some incredible artists. It doesn’t get much better.”
The Calgary Stampede Art Show has a variety of opportunities for artists to show off their skills and talents, the 2024 edition will feature:
