The Calgary Stampede is where unforgettable memories are made, from Rodeo traditions, live shows and family-friendly fun. But the most important part of every Stampede are the people who make it great: our guests. That’s why keeping everyone safe is our number one priority as we prepare to welcome guests from around the corner and around the world to The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth.

“Our goal is for every guest to have a fun and safe Stampede,” says Kerrie Blizard, Director of Public Safety and Environment. “We’re proud of the extensive work and strong partnerships that go into making Stampede an enjoyable, safe and welcoming experience for all.”

This work doesn’t happen alone. The Calgary Stampede collaborates year-round with the Calgary Emergency Management Agency (CEMA), Calgary Police Service (CPS), Calgary Fire Department (CFD), Alberta Health Services (AHS), Calgary Transit (CT) and other partners to ensure a coordinated and proactive approach to public safety.

“CEMA and its agency members work together behind the scenes to ensure the Stampede runs safely, smoothly, and true to Calgary’s spirit,” said Chief Sue Henry, CEMA. “We are asking Calgarians to do the same and stay informed of weather and event changes, especially with current heat conditions, so they can have the best and safest Stampede.”

With more than 1.3 million guests expected this year, being Stampede ready means planning ahead and embracing the spirit of community. Before you head down to Stampede Park, know which entrance you’ll be using and determine how best to get there. Make a plan with your group, pick an easy-to-find meeting spot in case you get separated and make sure your phone is fully charged.

If you’re heading to The Greatest Music Festival in the West and catching a live performance on one of our main stages, be concert ready. Know how to Concert Like a Pro by planning ahead, hydrating and fueling up, and setting yourself up for a great experience. A safe show is a great show, so respect the space and those around you. If you prefer more room to dance, consider arriving early or enjoying the show from further back.

During our annual festival, Stampede Park becomes its own police district during Stampede, with CPS Officers stationed on-site from Sneak-a-Peek on July 3 through to the final Sunday, July 13.

“The Calgary Police Service is once again proud to support the Calgary Stampede and we are ready to do our part to ensure the Stampede remains safe and enjoyable for all,” said Staff Sgt. Scott Campbell, Incident Commander of police resources at this year’s Stampede. “As in previous years, we will maintain a strong and visible presence along the Parade route and throughout Stampede Park, which operates as a ninth police district, complete with its own commander, radio channel, patrol officers, and operations centre. This allows us to coordinate policing throughout and ensure all parts of Stampede Park are well-patrolled to respond quickly and effectively. Our top priority is the safety of Calgarians and visitors alike, and we are confident that we are ready for Stampede 2025.”

While the energy across Stampede Park is full of excitement, Calgary’s weather can be full of surprises. Guests are encouraged to check the forecast before heading down, dress in layers and come prepared. On hotter days, stay hydrated, fuel up and don’t forget your sunscreen and water bottle.

No matter what the skies bring, Stampede Park offers plenty of indoor spaces to recharge. The Nutrien Western Event Centre features family-friendly agriculture shows and competitions. The newly expanded BMO Centre has plenty to explore, including local art, shows, activities, and, after a full day of fun, a glass of fine wine.

Getting to and from Stampede safely is also top of mind. Whether you’re coming down for that must-try Midway treat or catching the fiery action of the Grandstand Show, it all starts with mapping your way to Stampede 2025.

Putting on a cowboy hat is not just a fashion choice, but a nod to the Western spirit we’re built on. It symbolizes respect for yourself, the people around you and the experience we’re all sharing. True Western hospitality means coming together to celebrate, connect and take care of each other.

“Everyone is here to have a great time, and so we ask guests to lead with respect and come prepared to have fun,” says Blizard. “That’s what creates the energy that makes Stampede so special.”

Let’s make Stampede 2025 a safe and unforgettable one, together!
