CALGARY, AB (June 24, 2026) — The stage is set for 10 nights of high-speed competition at the 2026 Calgary Stampede with the unveiling of the full roster of competitors for the Rangeland Derby presented by Play Alberta featuring Chuckwagon Races and the ENMAX Relay Races. Twenty-seven chuckwagon drivers and 16 relay teams are set to race at GMC Stadium during The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth, July 3-12.
New for 2026, broadcast coverage of the Rangeland Derby is expanding to include both the chuckwagon and relay races, reflecting strong and growing audience demand. Fans across Canada can tune in at 8:30 p.m. MT nightly from July 3 to 12 on Sportsnet and Sportsnet One, while U.S. viewers can tune in on the Cowboy Channel and Cowboy Channel+.
Widely regarded as two of the most exciting competitions in Western sport, the chuckwagon relay races bring together many of North America's top competitors to battle for championship titles, significant winnings and bragging rights on one of sport's biggest stages.
The excitement surrounding this year's chuckwagon competition was evident in April when the 2026 Canvas Auction Presented by Play Alberta generated a record $6.075 million in support of the drivers invited to compete, underscoring the enduring popularity of chuckwagon racing and the strong support behind the sport.
The final relay positions were secured following an outstanding showing at the inaugural Calgary Stampede First Nations Rodeo & Relay on June 13 where four of North America’s top teams earned their place in the 16-team ENMAX Relay Races, completing one of the strongest relay lineups ever assembled at the Calgary Stampede.
“The level of competition we’re seeing this year is exceptional,” said Kristina Barnes, Director of Agriculture & Western Events at the Calgary Stampede. “From the depth of talent in the chuckwagon roster to the incredible horsemanship and skill of the relay teams, fans can expect some of the most exciting racing we’ve ever seen. The energy in GMC Stadium is going to be electric every night.”
Each evening, the Calgary Stampede Evening Show combines world-class racing, live entertainment and a spectacular fireworks finale in one action-packed experience. The show begins at 7:15 p.m., with races starting at 7:30 p.m.
Nightly competition features nine heats of chuckwagon racing, with three drivers per heat, followed by two heats of relay racing featuring four teams per heat and one women’s race.
