The roster is set and the stage is ready. With the final four Barrel Racers confirmed following the conclusion of the 2025 Calgary Stampede Barrel Racing Qualifiers on June 11, the full slate of 210 elite rodeo athletes who will compete in the iconic Calgary Stampede Rodeo, running July 4–13, at GMC Stadium, has been finalized.

This year’s edition of The World’s Largest Outdoor Rodeo marks a historic moment with the debut of Ladies Breakaway Roping as a main event, and is set to bring speed, power and precision to the infield like never before. This lightning-fast event will feature 30 of the world’s best female ropers, all competing for a piece of a total prize pool of $310,250, bringing the total prize money at the Stampede Rodeo to $2,171,750.

“We’re proud to welcome the best rodeo athletes in the world to the Calgary Stampede Rodeo,” says Kristina Barnes, Director of Agriculture & Western Events at the Calgary Stampede. “From thrilling rides to lightning-fast runs, this year’s lineup is a powerful mix of champions and rising stars who are all ready to deliver 10 unforgettable days of heart-pumping, crowd-roaring rodeo action.”

Returning Stars & Rising Champions Across All Events

The Calgary Stampede Rodeo continues to follow the format established in 2023, with 30 athletes in each event, split into three pools. The top three from each pool will then move to the semi-finals, with the top three advancing to the finals on Showdown Sunday, where they’ll compete for the title of 2025 Calgary Stampede Champion in each of their respective events.

Ladies Breakaway Roping’s debut field is packed with top-tier talent and high-octane action. Look for reigning World Champion Kelsie Domer, three-time Women’s Professional Rodeo Association Champion Martha Angelone, and legendary 23-time world title holder Jackie Crawford. Canada’s own and 2023 World Champion Shelby Boisjoli-Meged brings a home-nation spark, while rising star Josie Conner arrives in Calgary with big wins and national buzz behind her.

In Ladies Barrel Racing, the stakes — and speeds — are sky-high. Today’s final four Ladies Barrel Racing qualifying contestants, Anita Ellis, Taylor Cherry, Jennifer Neudorff, and Alyssa Urbanek-Wade, join a stacked lineup, including 2022 Stampede Champion and 2024 World Champion Kassie Mowry, and four-time World Champion Hailey Kinsel.

In Bareback Riding, it’s a clash of the best. 2024 World Champion Dean Thompson headlines alongside fan-favourite Rocker Steiner, whose big rides and bold style are always must-watch. A deep and explosive roster are rounded out by Canadian contenders, including multi-time National Finals Rodeo (NFR) qualifier Orin Larsen, 2024 Canadian Champion Kody Lamb and local Calgarian Jacob Stemo.

Saddle Bronc Riding returns with a full slate of champions and challengers, including 2024 Stampede Champion Kade Bruno. 2024 runner-up World Champion Damian Brennan of Australia will meet Alberta’s own Logan and Dawson Hay, competing once again alongside their cousin-in-law, Ben Andersen. It’s a field where every ride could be a highlight.

Two-time World Champion Riley Webb aims to extend his dominance in Tie-Down Roping, joined by fellow past champions Shad Mayfield and Tuf Cooper — all fierce contenders vying for a spot on the podium come Championship Sunday. Meanwhile, 2023 Stampede Champion and Alberta’s own Beau Cooper leads the charge of a new generation, determined to claim another Stampede title on home soil.

Steer Wrestling will also bring the muscle. 2024 World Champion J.D. Struxness returns to face off against five-time World Champion Tyler Waguespack, perennial contender Will Lummus and top Canadian bulldogger Scott Guenthner, who each hold a Stampede Champion title to their name.

Young Guns Go Head-to-Head with Proven Champions in Bull Riding

This year’s Bull Riding competition is bursting with new energy and rising talent. All eyes are on Wacey Schalla, the 19-year-old phenom who currently leads the 2025 Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association world standings. With five rides scoring more than 90 points this season, Schalla is on a hot streak heading into Stampede.

Hot on his heels is T.J. Gray, whose relentless consistency has vaulted him to second place in the world standings. Tristen Hutchings, a three-time NFR qualifier, brings big scores and bigger momentum, while four-time Canadian Champion and 2022 Stampede Champion Dakota Buttar looks to add another Stampede title to his long list of accomplishments.

With top-tier athletes and a groundbreaking new event, the 2025 Calgary Stampede Rodeo promises unmatched excitement and unforgettable moments, all building to Championship Sunday.

Stampede Rodeo performances begin daily in GMC Stadium at 1:30 p.m., and tickets include admission to Stampede Park. For the best seats and full schedule, visit calgarystampede.com/tickets.
