Canadian winter sport icons to help open The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth as they lead the Calgary Stampede Parade presented by Suncor on July 3
Calgary, AB (June 3, 2026) - In just one month, multiple Olympic medallists Courtney Sarault and Mikaël Kingsbury will lead the 2026 Calgary Stampede Parade through downtown Calgary. The Calgary Stampede is proud to announce the Team Canada stars as Parade Marshals for the 2026 Calgary Stampede Parade presented by Suncor.
Representing excellence, resilience and Canadian pride on the world stage, Sarault and Kingsbury are among the country’s most accomplished athletes, known for record-breaking performances, historic Olympic achievements and commitment to sport and community.
A short track speed skater from Moncton, N.B., Sarault made history at the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games as the first Canadian short track speed skater to win four medals at a single Olympics and just the second Canadian athlete ever to capture four medals at one Winter Games. During the 2025/26 season, she also claimed the Crystal Globe as the top overall women’s skater on the ISU Short Track World Tour after earning nine individual medals across four stops and helping Canada secure a second consecutive Team Crystal Globe.
“Attending the Calgary Stampede has long been a dream of mine, so the opportunity to take part as Parade Marshal is surreal and thrilling,” says Sarault. “Calgary has been a big part of my journey – I trained in Calgary at the Olympic Oval for a few years, so Calgary has a really special place in my heart. I’m so excited to join everyone in this celebration.”
Widely regarded as the greatest moguls skier of all time, Kingsbury has redefined excellence in freestyle skiing throughout his legendary career. The Quebec-born athlete holds more World Cup victories than any moguls skier in history, with 100 career wins, 29 Crystal Globes, nine World Championship titles and five Olympic medals, including two gold. At the 2026 Milano Cortina Olympic Winter Games, where he served as Canada’s Opening Ceremonies flag bearer, Kingsbury captured both gold and silver to become the most decorated male freestyle skier in Olympic history.
“I’m super excited and honoured to be Parade Marshal for the Calgary Stampede,” says Kingsbury. “I’ve had a lot of success in Calgary throughout my career – my first World Cup start and the place where I have the most World Cup wins – so it holds a pretty special place in my heart. See you July 3 for The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth!”
“Courtney and Mikaël embody the passion, perseverance and excellence we celebrate at the Calgary Stampede,” says Stuart O’Connor, President & Chair of the Board at the Calgary Stampede. “As world-class athletes who have inspired youth on a global stage, they are fitting ambassadors and we are proud to welcome them as our 2026 Parade Marshals and continue the Stampede’s long tradition of celebrating Canada’s Olympians.”
More than just a parade marching through downtown Calgary, the Calgary Stampede Parade is a celebration of Western heritage, community spirit and shared tradition. Each year, Parade Marshals are selected for exemplifying the values of the Calgary Stampede. Past Parade Marshals have included celebrated entertainers, astronauts, community builders and individuals whose achievements have inspired generations. Many Olympians have been honoured with the role, but Sarault will be the first short track speed skater to serve as Parade Marshal, while Kingsbury will be the first freestyle skier to take on the role.
The Calgary Stampede Parade begins at 9 a.m. on Friday, July 3, with the prelude beginning at 7:30 a.m. Immediately following the Parade, guests can take advantage of Stampede Parade to Park presented by Suncor by going straight from the Parade to Stampede Park to receive free admission from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. For more information, please visit calgarystampede.com.
