As we kick off 2025, two young women are putting on their respective crowns and beginning their reigns as the 2025 Calgary Stampede Royalty. Calgary Stampede Princess, Breanna Correia, and First Nations Princess, Pacey Strangling Wolf, officially stepped into their roles on January 1.

Pacey is a 25-year-old Jingle Dress Dancer from the Kainai Nation and Breanna is a 23-year-old Communications Student at Mount Royal University. Together, the Princesses will act as ambassadors of the Calgary Stampede, sharing and celebrating the Stampede’s Western heritage, cultures and community spirit.

We sat down with the incoming Royals to learn more about them:

Q: What was your initial reaction when you were crowned?

Pacey: I honestly could not believe it! All four of the contestants had strengths and moments of brilliance, but when my name was called, I felt so honoured and happy. It felt like my late grandmother and uncle were right beside me.

Breanna: As I stood with the other exceptional young women, I knew that whoever was chosen would be embarking on the ride of a lifetime. When my name was called, it was as though fireworks went off and I realized I had just been granted an incredible opportunity.

Q: What are you looking forward to as you step into your reign?

Breanna: I’m most excited to connect with the youth in my hometown of Calgary and inspire the next generation. I’m also looking forward to working alongside the amazing people, animals and volunteers.

Pacey: I am looking forward to working with the Stampede's First Nations Events Committee and the Stampede team to ensure another awesome year!

Q: What is something you want to achieve during your reign?

Breanna: As a passionate horsewoman, I hope to educate our community about the incredible animals we’re privileged to interact with. My dream is to inspire audiences, one ride at a time, and strengthen their understanding of and connection to agriculture and Western events.

Pacey: I want to spread positivity among our women of Treaty 7! Our matriarchs are how we got here today, and we will continue to inspire the future. I would love for all of us women to build each other up, because together, we are stronger.
